The Blair Witch is a witch spirit haunting the Blair Woods near Burkittsville, Maryland. The legend goes that the Blair Witch (no other name known) was murdered by a mob of the local citizenry after several children had disappeared. I have not found any documentation of why they suspected her, but at her burning she did vow revenge. Over the years that have been many strange occurrences in the Blair Woods. The most horrifying being a hermit named Rustin Parr kidnapping and murdering seven children in his house in the forest. When he turned himself in he claimed that he had been possessed by the witch. In 1999 a movie was made about the disappearance of three student filmmakers who had gone into the woods to make a documentary five years earlier.
