Notes: Spearfinger

Spearfinger was a witch in Cherokee legends. She was said to have stone-like skin and a sharp forefinger on her right hand. She used this finger to cut her victims. Her mouth was permanently stained red from all the children she ate. Birds were frightened of her and would disappear when she was about. She was also a shapeshifter and would disguise herself as a kindly, old woman. Fortunately, being made of stone, whenever she walked her steps sounded like thunder, which was give away that it was her. She didn’t move much, mostly waiting for people to wander to a stream for a drink or into the bushes for a berry to attack them. Her only friend was a grungy, old crow.
